Abuse policy

Lettera Mail sends from one shared domain, lettera.dev. That makes the whole product fragile in one specific way: one account sending spam degrades delivery for every other account, because the receiving world judges the domain, not the mailbox. So this policy exists before the first signup, not after the first complaint.

The rule

No unsolicited bulk mail. “Bulk” means the same or substantially similar message to many recipients who did not ask for it. “Unsolicited” means no prior, specific, revocable consent from each recipient. Marketing to a purchased list is bulk and unsolicited even if the list vendor claims otherwise.

What happens

  • An org that sends unsolicited bulk mail is suspended. Its API keys stop working and its inboxes stop receiving.
  • A suspended org can appeal. Reinstatement is not automatic and not guaranteed.
  • Every org has a per-day send cap. The cap is a backstop, not a license — hitting it every day is itself a signal worth reviewing.

What this is not

This is not a content policy. Lettera does not read mail. Transactional mail a recipient asked for — order confirmations, receipts, replies to their own support request — is fine at any volume the cap allows. The line is consent and relevance, not topic.
